This post is only serve as pointers in passing the exam of NC2(National Certification 2)of the Tesda.Because other students asking me how to pass this Tesda Exam.This only for the Philippine Exam not a foreign Exam.This exam, if they will passed this serves as a technical licensure as a Computer Hardware Servicing(CHS) or a Computer Technician by other school,just like the ALS-EFA(Alternative Learning System-Education For All).But AlS-EFA is not required to exam the NC2 as a fulfillment of the course.But the ALS-EFA students are allowed to exam NC2 to get the Tesda License.
What is the important to have a NC2 Tesda license?, in fact this licensed of the Tesda are use to make as a credentials as a competent of the field of Computer Technician or Computer Hardware Servicing.Most importantly, once you apply technical work abroad.In other words, is one of the most basic requirements of technical works in computer servicing as NC2.Other also skills or course needs also an NC2, such as Consumer Electronic Servicing(CES)and other filed of skills which are demand inside the Philippines and abroad.
As I'm an NC2 Tesda passer, I know what are the pointers and what I’m studied to prepared myself for the exam.Do not take your self as simple you think.And over confident to your self that the exam is very simple for you.Whether you are a experience technician, an engineer, or a fresh graduate of technical course.Be humble of what you learned and your skills level and remember that we have different learning ability through our standard and experience. And your assessors is a competent and skilled of their field and of the exam.So whenever what are the questions and actual that would be performed you can answer it precisely and performed it immediately.Because the exam is a very time pressured and your limited to do.So therefore, you need more practice and more study before the schedule of your exam.So this is the purpose of this post to help you to pass the exam.
What are the needed and what are the possible questions and actual to perform during the exam.
Before the exam will begin the assessor together with the Tesda representative will conduct a so could orientation.They will explained to you what are your rights and what is the purposed why you take the exam.Actually NC2 exam is mandatory of the schools to the graduating students of the computer technology to pass the exam before they graduated to their course.Only for the technical schools that they are accredited or passed the tesda requirements as a Technical Vocational Schools under the Tesda umbrella.
Now, after the orientation either the assessors will divided the students into two groups.Because the assessor allow only by the tesda to conduct examination just only ten(10) students in a one day.So you will divided into two groups, the other groups probably in specification and assemble of computer and the other one is for installation of operating system.They alternate the groups after they successfully performed the activity base on the test package whether your a competent or not.
So, in this two category you must be aware and prepare of this two skills.Because an NC2 technician must skilled in this four core competency.You must know the following:
- Install computer systems and networks= you must know the proper installation of the hardware's and know the specifications.And prepare for the oral interview of the assessor for the use and function of the hardware of the computer.Before you to assemble the CPU and you must know the safety precautions of assembling PC. And you must know the basic electronics such as the electronic components and its used and function together with the different acronyms.
- Configure computer systems and networks=you must know the configuration of the Bios system mostly in standard cmos setup of the main bios and the bios features.And you must know the installation of the LAN or networking of the computer.You must know the two model of networks, cable crimping, TCP/IP and its classes and formats.And performed the actual configuration of computer to computer connection and dedicated server.Together with the file sharing and printer sharing as local.You must know the connection media such as the networks switches and NIC.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot computer systems and networks=this is the most critical part of the exam, probably this is an oral interview.You must answer the questions of the assessor in a moment of time.It have a test package all of the contents are about the technicality of the computer.So you must know the basic of computer troubleshooting even one trouble.ex:of the symptom is “power light is on, nothing happens nothing on screen.” and know the use and functions of the hardware through identification.And what are the contact cleaning that could be use during troubleshooting.Other questions that I remember also is the basic of troubleshooting, such as beep codes, example “one long beep followed by two short beeps” and some other knowledge of the operating systems most likely in windows 2000 and windows 98.
- Maintain computer systems and networks=you must know how to maintain hardware and software of the computer and networks also.Example how to maintain and clean the CPU such as the cooler fan how to lubricate this and to maintain the software such as performing virus scanning and running the system utility and performing how to backup files of the computer.
Then during the installation of the operating system.You must know how to install the windows 98 but it will not an actual prepare only this if the assessor will question to you.But during the exam the winxp is the operating system you must know how to install this.So therefore you must know also how to partition the HDD into two partition and must be the first partition must be assigned to the operating system and the other one is Data.After the successful installation of the operating system your assessor will asked to you to performed the installation of the system drivers and performed the backup files.While your successfully performed this, then you will performed also the crimping.Because successful installation of the OS you are also ready for the installation of the LAN both using the two lan wiring and performed the peers- to- peers connection and the connection using the network switch together with the file sharing and printer sharing.
Then the oral interview will follow, just prepare your self of what you learn and stock knowledge of your skills as I said in four competencies.That’s all what I learned and Experience and good luck for the exam.Both knowledge and actual you must skilled in this competencies.
